Home Learning Information
Welcome to our Year 2 home learning page. We want to share some exciting activities that you can do with your child over the next few weeks, alongside other educational resources.
Reading: In Year 2 we love to read, please continue to share stories daily with your child, allowing them to read to you for at least 15 minutes, as well as reading to your child. Reading opens up a world of creativity and imagination, as well as supporting your child academically. In this section you will find questions to ask your child when reading with them and a list of , '100 Books to Read in Key Stage 1'. You could consider getting your child to write or film a book review to share with friends, design a quiz or make a bookmark about the book that they have just read.
Spelling: We have also put up the list of Year 2 Common Exception Words. These are words that children need to be able to spell confidently within their writing, by the end of Year 2. These words do not always follow spelling rules, so please enable your child to practise these.
Maths: Each week we will set a MyMaths activity (www.mymaths.co.uk ). Please login and complete this. We also want children to be extremely fluent with their 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables and the related division facts. Please use Times Tables Rockstars at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes ( https://ttrockstars.com/ ). If your child is confident with these multiplication tables then they may begin to learn others.
Phonics: At Grange Park we use Read Write Inc to teach phonics. If your child need extra practise with this, follow this link for daily phonics lessons. Each lesson is uploaded for 24 hours and can be viewed via facebook or youtube: https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/help-during-school-closure/
Exercise: Joe Wicks is running a follow at home work out session for children each morning at 9am on his youtube channel, just type in PE with Joe Wicks.
Please keep checking back in on this page for more resources and activities to be shared and on the weekly pages for other learning that has been set. During the coming weeks, enjoy activities like baking, arts and craft, board games and allow your child to be creative.
