Natural Disasters Art

In Art, Year 3 explored the work of American artist Stephanie Peters, who paints abstract works inspired by natural disasters.

We discussed her paintings and then experimented with colour mixing to create a fiery background. After that, we practised using charcoal to create tree skeletons. Finally, we planned our composition and painted our final piece.

The children are justifiably proud of the end result.

“I really enjoyed this topic and I am pleased with my finished work.”  Helin - Cedar class.

Chloe: “I enjoyed looking at Stephanie Peters’ artwork and mixing acrylic paint with sand, like she does.” Chloe - Cedar class.

This is the first of many exciting projects that we will be completing as part of our art curriculum this year.
